near 18th and hadley. officials say an officer was patrolling the area after receiving a shot spotter call -- and found an 18- year-old man who had been shot. the victim died on scene. a teenager is facing charges after a police chase ends in a crash overnight. we're told brown deer police attempted to stop a stolen minivan near 60th and brown deer around 11-30. the driver sped off - reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour...and running multiple red lights. the van eventually hit another vehicle near 76th again. the chase ended near 84th and carmen after the van hit a tree. police say the 17-year-old driver was taken into custody. thankfully - no one was hurt. this morning the sherman park community continues to rebuild...and regain a sense of normalcy... this morning...some students in the neighborhood will return to school and the priority is their safety. deandra corinthios is live near sherman and center with the latest we're outside lumin schools...where students will

...from where the destruction and violence took place... school officials met with parents over the weekend...to assure them students will be safe. this week we're expecting to learn more information about the investigation into the deadly officer involved shooting on august 13th...that sparked the violence. this...as several community leaders and faith based groups came together on sunday - to pray for their city as it works through the turm lutheran church were grateful their church was open despite the unrest. the pastor shared a message of hope and strength ....a message he says will withstand any evil. 'very definitely. it continues this week, next week, as long as sherman park is here, were gonna be here for the community, reaching out through the love of christ.' several businesses in the sherman park neighborhood... are being demolished because of the damage. criminal

looting. reporting live in milwaukee dc fox6 news. 35 people are now homeless after a deadly fire at an apartment complex in sheboygan. now the red cross is stepping in to help. many of them left without the shirt on their back without the medications they needed. one person was killed in the blaze. an emergency shelter is set up at farnsworth middle school. displaced residents are getting help with their bas finding new housing. neighbors are grateful ... to the red cross ... and to the first responders who rushed into the burning building. i wanted to thank the men in uniforms you know they risked their lives they werent running away from the flames they were running towards making sure people are out. id like to give a big shout out to them i mean that was heroic. the red cross says this fire is unusual ... because so many people are displaced. it put out an expanded call for service ... bringing in help from green bay,

the red cross cannot provide this type of assistance without your generosity. if you'd like to donate, visit fox6 now dot com or the fox6 news app and click "links" for the necessary information. you'll also find information on volunteer opportunities. one woman is dead and another person injured after a serious crash near 27-th and wells. it happened a little after six last night. police say a car going west on wells ran a red light...colliding with a car on 27th street. a 64-year-old woman -- who was a died at the scene. officials also say the driver was taken to the hospital. only on fox6 -- unbelievable video of a high speed chase through wauwatosa. nicole is in the newsroom with details. police say the driver hit 97 miles an hour and drove down a sidewalk to try and get away from officers. dash cam video shows the chase went from tosa, into milwaukee and back. police say they began the pursuit because the car was stolen. what they didnt know is the driver, 40 year old lucas byrd,

misses a turn, drives through a yard, before later driving down a sidewalk. he actually hits a street sign, he jumps out of the car. then the officers able to follow up. :53 we got a perimeter set up the yards, and were able to take him into custody byrd is in jail facing several charges. hes done time for similar cases in the past. court records show that in 2012, he was sentenced to four years for eluding an officer and endangering safety. the state corrections department says he just got out on may 17th we are learning new information about deadly officer- involved shooting in new london... the man shot and killed by police on friday - was carrying a toy gun. the department of justice says 31- year-old kole knight used the toy to trick police into shooting him, knight's fiancee told the appleton post- crescent... that knight was suicidal and he knew if he showed a weapon

14-year-old son. an update now on a famous musician who was found dead over the weekend in a west bend hotel. matt roberts was a founding member of the rock band "3 doors down". he was found unconscious in the hallway of this "hampton inn". family members tell t-m-z they believe he overdosed on prescription pills. roberts was in west bend this weekend for a benefit concert. he was just 38 years old. donald trump's campaign trying to hit the rest button --- what saying about the race for the white house. plus, one wedding reception had some unexpected guests. how llamas were able to crash the part. plus, sending a positive message. how these milwaukee musicians making a difference in the sherman park community. and carl is hanging out at the wisconsin humane society.

class today orientation was over the weekend. but with turmoil and violence in the neighborhood still fresh on everyone's minds...school officials assured parents students will be safe lumin schools is tied to sherman park lutheran church. despite the unrest...the church was open sunday and services continued. parishioners reflected on the traumatic events that occured just over a week ago...a few blocks away sherman park is still taped off. and businesses have yet to and looting... but parishioners say they've found peace within the sanctuary's walls. 'this is our lively hood, this is where we work, this is where we play so my heart cried to see the things going on in the area.' 'a reminder that among all of that god still loves us, he even loves those that did wrong in the community. god love them.' mayor tom barrett says the city of milwaukee has plans to work

unrest... the hope is to keep them in the area and continuing to employee workers in the sherman park neighborhood. reporting live in milwaukee dc fox6 news. a week after the unrest --- a positive sign to improve some of milwaukee's poorest neighborhoods. once overgrown with weeds... the newly named johnni mae phillips park was packed with families this weekend. alderman russell stamper the second - says yesterday's ribbon cutting of the park serves as a turning point in a week that's been marred by the sherman park unrest blamed the protests on a lack of resources for children in the inner city. its a place i want to be thats in my community instead of having to drive somewhere else and go away. this park is one of 14 deteriorating parks that will be transformed. the 20-16 summer olympic games come to a close in brazil... last night the cauldron on olympic boulevard in downtown rio de janeiro was extinguished. brazil is the first south american

the united states coming in number one at the games...with 121 medals. china taking the second spot... with 70. american swimmer ryan lochte speaking out for the first time after lying about being robbed at a gas station in rio the olympian now admits his "immature behavior" got him and his teammates into hot water. jessob is here with details. the head of the united states olympic committee is promising further action against u-s swimmer ryan lochte and three of his teammates. showed lochte and three of his teammates..gunnar bentz, jack conger and jimmy feigen at a gas station after a party. lochte told brazilian authorities as they attempted to leave the gas station in a cab.. one of the security guards forced them out of the taxi ..at gun point.. and on the ground. rio officials later questioned the swimmers and refuted lochte's account of that night.. and said the olympians were confronted by the security guard only after they vandalized the gas station bathroom..
